- The first ice resurfacer was developed by American inventor and engineer Frank Zamboni in 1949 in the city of Paramount, California. As such, an ice resurfacer is often referred to as a "Zamboni" regardless of brand or manufacturer.
- Ice resurfacer translates into the swedish word "ismaskin" which also means Ice machine /Ice maker.
- "Ice Machine" is also a song by Depeche Mode featured on the 7" single "Dreaming of Me", released on the 20 february 1981 through Mute Records.
